Greenholme Students Show Off Their Artistic Skills At High Profile Gala

Greenholme Junior Middle School students recently had the opportunity to participate in a unique program with Arts for Children, an organization that provides arts programs for children from inner-city communities.  Twelve Greenholme students from grades 4 to 8 worked together with artist Sarah Tarantino to create original multi-media prints using the inspiration of the TDSB’s 10 Character Attributes.

On April 29, Greenholme’s student artists and teachers Erich Horst and Emily Whitehead were invited to present their artwork at a Gala for Arts for Children at the Sutton Place Hotel. The students described their inspiration and the process they used to complete their pieces before the entire audience.  Everyone felt a real sense of accomplishment for the praise they received for all their hard work.

During the gala event, two of the student-created collages were raffled off for charity.  Kevin Frankish from Breakfast Television also interviewed the students about this great experience.

Congratulations to all the Greenholme staff and students who participated in this wonderful project!  A special recognition to the following students for their contributions:  Kazeem Agboola, Mosa Azizi, Khatoll Ghauss, Stephanie Espinoza, Sayyid Hassan, and Farha Hassan.

Greenholme is continuing its partnership with Arts for Children, and most recently is working on a medieval themed clay project with two Special Education classes.

Greenholme JMS is a K – 8 school of approximately 520 students located in the north west region of Etobicoke.  The schools hosts a variety of extra curricular programs for the students; each program offering the students to develop their skills in different areas.
