AFCY’s First-ever Published Book is now on Sale!
The Edible Alphabet Book was a fundraising project initiated and created by the children of the Stanchester Eco Pirates to fulfill the children’s goals of raising money to fund their local program, sharing their artwork with others, and ‘drawing things to make their community better’.
For this project, the children worked together as a group to create an alphabetical list of their favorite fruits and vegetables and produced a collection of over 26 handcrafted illustrations compiled into this book. From apples to sugar cane, ugli fruit and zucchini, the
foods pictured in this book are as diverse as the personalities and cultural heritages of the children who made
them.
This Book was created in an AFCY program which ran from January 5 to March 9, 2011 and was led by artist-instructor
Jennifer Chin. The program was made possible with the support of the City of Toronto through the Drug Prevention
Community Investment Program as well as our partnership with the Stanchester Eco Pirates Community Group. AFCY acknowledges, with thanks, our operating funders: Ontario Trillium Foundation,
Ontario Arts Council and Toronto Arts Council.
A limited edition is available at $15 each. To order yours, please contact Nicole Fisher at 416-929-9314 x 109 or email her : Nicole@afcy.ca
