Arts Open

You may not know this but on May 30 AFCY is partnering with the Nicholas Metivier Gallery to organize an artful golf tournament called Arts Open, which will be presented this year by Cineplex and Scotia Private Client Group (part of the Scotiabank Group). The hugely successful tournament is entering its fifth year and is the brainchild of Nicholas Metivier, owner of one of Canada’s foremost galleries.

Arts Open was created to provide a forum for the art community to collaborate on projects and events dedicated to fostering the growth and creativity of future generations.  This year AFCY will be the beneficiary and the tournament will be held, once again, at The Club at Bond Head.  Many of Canada’s major artists have participated in the event, including Michael Awad; Edward Burtynsky, John Hartman,  James Lahey, Charles Meanwell, Annie Pootoogook, John Scott, Michael Smith and Joanne Tod among others.  Participating gallerists include Stephen Bulger, Feheley Fine Arts, Olga Korper and Nicholas Metivier.

Stephen Appleby-Barr, Edward Burtynsky, John Hartman, Rachel MacFarlane, John Scott, Chris Temple and Charles Meanwell are among the many great artists who will be contributing new and inspiring artworks to a live Art Auction, which will be held during dinner on the evening of the tournament.  Before that, of course, there will be 18 holes of golf to play on a premium course, where some of the artists will also be participating alongside distinguished guests on the greens.  2011 is set to be another phenomenal success for the Arts Open Golf Tournament and AFCY.
